Woman using artisan Lavender soap bar in bathroom-natural skincare for sensitive, radiant skin

The Soap That Started It All 🌿

When I struggled with eczema, every product on the shelf failed me. Harsh chemicals, synthetic fillers, and “sensitive skin” promises only discouraged me and made the pain of scalp eczema worse. The one thing that concerned me most was that even the organic labels and products in well-known grocery and big box stores couldn't solve my skin problems. If the experts couldn't solve my skin rash then I really did need to find my own natural solution—because they certainly weren't finding me one. I needed a truly balanced remedy for my sensitive eczema-prone skin and something that could bring true deep skin healing—without the hype -(and the rash)!

Turning Back to Nature

With my passion for natural living and background in herbalism, I believed I could create a gentle skincare formula. I decided to learn some chemistry and formulation along the way. So, in my living room and kitchen, I began studying and crafting soaps and skincare products. I eventually came up with a truly gentle formula that we still use to make the base of our soaps to this day — from our French Lavender Soap Bar to shea butter and olive oil blends — all are made for sensitive, irritated skin. Our gentle French Lavender Soap, made with virgin cold-pressed olive oil, fair trade shea butter, almond and avocado oils, vitamin E, healing oils and botanicals, is how it all began. Unlike other soap brands, our artisan hand-crafted soap bars don’t contain harsh chemicals, cheap ingredients, fake unnatural colorants, or shortcuts. Instead, our skincare offerings are infused with only plant-based, natural, and organic ingredients, with a touch of natural chemistry.

When I started making soaps I chose the traditional cold-process soap method — the “old fashioned” way of making soap. It takes a bit longer, but it allows the natural oils and botanicals to blend in a way that preserves their soothing benefits (without high heat). Many soapers use melt-and-pour premade bases that aren't natural or balanced and resell the soap. Others employ a hot-process soap method, where they bake the soap in a hot oven at high temperatures. However, this method destroys the delicate ingredients and doesn’t ensure the ingredients are healthy, preventing their benefits.

.

At Me and a Tree Skincare Company, we firmly believe that the healing properties of ingredients and the process employed play a significant role in skincare results. While other methods may be quicker and more convenient, they may not be suitable for sensitive skin or individuals who prioritize the quality of the ingredients they use. I wanted to create my own formulas, rather than purchasing someone else’s or cooking essential oils (or any other ingredients) at high temperatures. While the traditional method, which has been practiced for centuries, may be time-consuming, we believe it is the most effective and holistic approach to making natural soap bars and skincare products that truly cater to even the most sensitive skincare needs.

Finding the Perfect Formula

The journey to finding my own gentle yet effective soap bar (and skincare) wasn’t easy. Batch after batch fell short of my standards. But I didn't give up. I kept experimenting to create the right balance and soft feel for my extremely sensitive skin.
I remember the countless hours of testing, the prayers, the sweat, and the late nights. Each attempt brought me a little closer — formulation is such a delicate balance between science, creativity, and tenacity. Slowly, my recipes improved until, at last, I crafted a wonderfully gentle cold-process soap that truly worked for even the most sensitive skin needs. My skin calmed, the dryness disappeared, and the relief was real and visible. I had finally created a genuine artisan soap bar that didn't leave my skin feeling tight or greasy. It rinsed off beautifully too! That moment of healing and discovery was an answer to prayer, and I thank God every day for it.

What started as my own solution became life-changing for thousands of others who discovered that our eczema relief soap  for all skin types, could bring comfort without dryness or irritation. I had finally solved my own problem. I realized I could help others solve theirs too. Every time I see and smell my beloved bars — French Lavender, Goat Milk & Patchouli, Spearmint Wheatgrass, and a few others — swirling in my soap lab, I’m reminded of those early days when I first became obsessed with natural soap making and the creation of truly sensitive skincare solutions. All those hours, weeks, and months of work and prayer led to something beautiful: handmade soaps crafted to heal, comfort, and truly make a difference. We enjoy helping people all throughout the USA.

The Birth of Me and a Tree

Those first bars of lavender cold-process soap were the early seeds that grew into Me and a Tree Artisan Skincare. And the same philosophy I started with years ago still guides everything we make today: fresh, natural and inspiring ingredients truly inspired by nature. It is fascinating working with the beautiful high-altitude French Lavender essential oils and healing natural clays and herbs. Every day inside Me and a Tree Skincare is a botanical school of wellness, skincare tips and healing.

It’s why our French Lavender Bar remains one of our most popular and beloved soaps. Our gentle cold-process lavender soap for sensitive skin has been soothing dryness and calming irritation for a lot of people and for many years. The added benefit of lavender helping with stress and anxiety, is a bonus as well. More than just a bar, it’s a reminder that healing can be simple, natural, and delightful. Sometimes all that's needed is nature and a little faith.

Some of the most meaningful moments are when someone approaches me with tears in their eyes, expressing their gratitude for my handmade soaps or natural skincare creams. It fills my heart with joy to realize that my passion for crafting gentle cold-process soaps, nourishing lotions, and natural bug repellents has found a way to contribute to others’ healing journeys. This realization inspires me to continue learning, growing, and creating high-quality, natural products that offer comfort, beauty, and cruelty-free effective skincare.
