Why Quality Artisan Skincare Costs More April 07, 2017 05:30 1 Comment

Though rare, once in awhile, we get a customer that asks why we price a certain product at a certain price. My response is short and honest, and I will repeat it. I make everything by hand using natural, wildcrafted, and organic ingredients. Not only do I physically make all our products with my own hands which is labor intensive, but we source natural and organic oils and plants that are not typical such as Helichrysum, Borage Flower Oil, Black Pepper Oil, etc, and I use significant amounts of Jojoba, Sweet Almond, Avocado Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, and last but not least Virgin Cold Pressed Olive Fruit Oil, from farms that bring back animal habitats that are threatened. We source from farms that practice the use of natural organic herbicides like neem oil instead of chemical based herbicides and pesticides that end up inside the plant. So the ingredients are fresh and unadulterated. It costs a little more to source from these farms but the oils and ingredients are up to the high standards I want in a product. I could use inferior oils. However, those oils would feel much different on the skin and be much less effective.

Me and a Tree Natural Skincare Formulator

Many companies both large and small substitute Jojoba, Sweet Almond, Virgin Cold Pressed Olive Fruit Oil, and Grape Seed Oil, which are higher in vitamin E, essential fatty acids, antioxidants and skin loving proteins and nutrients with lower quality oils such as Sunflower, or Canola Oil because it's considerably cheaper (and less effective). Those oils are not up to the standards we adhere to here at Me and a Tree.  I choose not to work with inferior oils because they feel very different (drying) on the skin and do not possess the anti-aging benefits and skin loving nutrients I prefer to work with. The oils we use are also non-comedogenic (less irritating) and more gentle and penetrating which is good for normal and sensitive skin. The bulk of my lotions bases are much higher in GLA which help prolong a youthful appearance and we feel are more appropriate for a high-quality skin care such as Me and a Tree.

One would be hard-pressed to find another company that adds those kinds of ingredients all together in one product the way we add them to our body lotions. Some companies may use one of the ingredients, however, have you seen the same ingredients (Virgin Cold Pressed Olive Fruit Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Avocado Oil, Borage Oil, Jojoba Oil) added all together in one product the way we do in our lotions? If so, was it cheap? Of course not. Adding quality as well as unique plant oils cost more to make and produce. Our target market value these qualities and so do I because we use all of our products, and so do our family and friends. I enjoy not looking my age. My customers do too!

Another reason is I have put many years into the intellectual study of natural plant chemistry and I believe that is a value to our brand as a whole. It took many years of my life to learn about oils, plants and more to be able to bring high-quality products to market. My customers feel it's worth it to have products that get very good results. I feel this is invaluable. I value my customers. I want them to have the best.

I can honestly say that Me and a Tree Skincare genuinely helps people and the environment. My customers have been with us from the very start and are still here today for that matter and for this, I am truly blessed and thankful. It's an honor to be able to say with confidence that Me and a Tree formulations work so well and for so many people all over the world.

I promise myself and my customers that I will not sacrifice quality because that is the very essence of our business. That is our commitment to you. We know you wouldn't want it any other way and that's how we have earned such a loyal following over the years.
So, the next time someone asks you why you choose high-quality artisan skincare, you can tell them that quality counts and you're worth it...
